A certain percentage of pets develop diabetes, watch them closely to see if they can recover. Diabetes is a very serious condition, and treatment should always be under the direction of a veterinarian. Homeopathy can help, though cures are rare. All diabetic patients should be on the element chromium. It usually comes as either the compound chromium picolinate or as GTF chromium.
Chromium is necessary for proper insulin function, and it will usually reduce the insulin dosage requirement, observe your companion closely when you begin supplementing with chromium if you are giving insulin by injection. Either is fine. Give 50 micrograms twice daily to cats, and give dogs 50 micrograms per fifteen to twenty-five pounds twice a day. You may also decrease the dose and give it three to four times a day.
Garlic is also helpful, but long-term garlic use may incite anemia. Many other foods and herbs have activity that reduces blood glucose. Dandelion, blueberry, and ginseng are helpful herbs. Green beans and mesquite pods are helpful foods. Niacinamide is occasionally helpful for humans with juvenile onset diabetes. Response to most of these is individual, and they are all safe, so you need to try different ones to see if any prove helpful for your companion.
