If you suspect food poisoning or your dog gotten into garbage take him to a veterinarian if he is severely listless or in pain. Most cases readily respond to homeopathic treatment.
Usually, the vomiting and diarrhea succeed in eliminating the toxins and no further illness ensues. Food poisoning is usually the result of eating foods that have spoiled, allowing bacterial growth. The bacteria contain toxins that cause nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. In very rare cases they may cause death.
Dogs are natural scavengers and will eat very repulsive items that typically cause them no harm. To the dogs advantage, they have the ability to vomit at will, and they simply regurgitate anything that bodes ill. Occasionally they do suffer the consequences, however.
If you suspect antifreeze poisoning, take him immediately to a clinic. If you are not sure that this is from spoiled food, or if there is any possibility of other poisons, have him examined as soon as possible to determine if other help is needed. This is especially true if antifreeze poisoning is a possibility. The response is usually rapid so you know soon if you need help.
Do not give medicines like kaopectate or paregoric to stop the vomiting or diarrhea, as these bodily reactions are eliminating toxins. Once the initial attacks calm down, you can offer water in small amounts, or let him lick an ice cube to moisten the mouth. In the first hour or so, the patient usually vomits several or has watery diarrhea, sometimes with gas and abdominal pain. As he improves, you may want to give an electrolyte replacer like Pedialyte if the diarrhea or vomiting were severe.
Remedies For Food Poisoning
Arsenicum album
These animals often have diarrhea and nausea or vomiting at severely ill and may die. This is first alphabetically and first in effectiveness. This is almost always my choice for food poisoning. I have used it quite successfully on myself, friends, and patients, and the results are usually dramatic. This is a keynote in people.
Crotalus borridus
If you are sure food poisoning is the culprit and you have this remedy, you can try it, but don’t wait too long you do not see improvement. The vomiting here is violent and persistent, and affected animals may vomit blood or “coffee ground” materials. Unless you know this is food poisoning, take your companion to a veterinarian if you see this

Nux vomica
Straining diarrhea is common, and the animal often continues to strain after emptying the bowel. Retching may bring about this condition. Nux is useful for any toxic conditions, and food poisoning certainly qualifies. Consider this remedy if the animal becomes fidgety and irritable as the condition arises.
Veratrum album
If Arsenicum does not work, this is often the second choice. This state is similar to that of Arsenicum, though somewhat more severe. There may be coldness and weskens along with the persistent nausea and vomiting. Usually there is not the excessive gas as with Carbo veg,
